Located in the heart of New York City's East Village, The Continental
has continued to be the launching pad for up-and-coming local talent since
1991. "There is nothing more exciting than seeing a band like D Generation
play their first show here and two years later sign a major record deal"
says owner/manager/promoter Trigger, whose club has helped witness the national
success of such local bands as Lunachicks, Spin Doctors, and Rake's Progress,
to name a few.
The Continental has also become a favorite NYC mainstay for other national
recording artists visiting the area. Some of the major acts that have performed
at this fairly small venue are Iggy Pop, Skid Row, Guns N' Roses, the Ramones,
to name a few.
The Continental was voted "Best Rock & Roll Club" in the New
York Press Annual Readers Poll. Open seven nights a week -- with almost
never a cover charge -- the club features up to 5 bands per night.
